Why is the servo motor of laser cutting machine easy to heat?

The servo motor of laser cutting machine has such remarkable characteristics as no long-term accumulation of error, good control performance, starting, stopping and turning in a few pulses, and no loss of motion. Therefore, the servo motor is widely used in precision machining machine tools. The laser cutting machine famous for its high efficiency and intelligence also uses servo motors. However, some people find that the servo motors of laser cutting machines are easy to heat up. What’s the matter?

The internal part of servo motor is composed of iron core and winding coil. The winding has resistance, which will cause loss when energized. The loss is proportional to the square of resistance and current. This is what we often call copper loss. Assuming that the current is not standard DC or sine wave, it will also cause harmonic loss; Dead center has hysteresis eddy current effect, and it will also produce loss in alternating magnetic field. Its size is related to material, current, frequency and voltage, which is called iron loss. Copper loss and iron loss will be shown in the form of heat, which will affect the efficiency of the motor.

So, how can we reduce the heating of servo motor?

1. Assuming that the servo motor driver has automatic half-flow mode, try to make it work in the half-flow state, because at this time, the full-flow operation of the motor servo motor generates large heat.

2. If the load torque range allows, the rated current of the motor can be reduced, for example, 5A motor, let it work in 4A state, select low resistance and low current motor servo motor to reduce copper loss and iron loss.
