Why can’t the fiber laser cutter cut the rusty plates?

As we all know, iron plates are easy to rust, which is a common phenomenon, but the rusted iron plates cannot be directly cut by the optical fiber laser cutter.
Laser is the brightest light, the fastest knife and the most accurate ruler in the world. The scabbard is sharp and accurate. But the laser is powerless on the rusty surface. Because the laser itself cannot be the light source, it will generate heat only after being absorbed by the surface of the sheet metal workpiece. For non rusted materials and rusted materials, the laser absorption is very different, and the cutting effect is also different.
Taking the rusty sheet below 5mm as an example, the cutting condition of the uniformly rusted sheet as a whole will be better than that of the unevenly rusted sheet. Because the overall uniformly rusted plate absorbs laser evenly, it can be cut well. For the processing of materials with uneven rust on the surface, the surface condition of materials shall be uniformly treated before cutting. Of course, if conditions permit, it is recommended to use a grinder for rust removal first.
For thicker rusty plates, if the optical fiber laser cutting machine is directly used to cut the rusty plates, it is easy to cause the phenomenon of impermeable cutting, poor cutting quality, and even the phenomenon of slag splash, which may damage the protective lenses, or even focus the lenses, causing the ceramic body to crack. Therefore, if you cut thick rusty materials, you must remove the rust before cutting.
Fiber laser cutting machine has requirements for materials, so you should know these when using.
