At present, in addition to stainless steel and carbon steel, the metal processing industry also has a relatively wide demand for copper and aluminum. When purchasing a 6kw fiber laser cutting machine, many customers will ask if they can cut aluminum, copper and other highly reflective materials. In fact, several years ago, metal laser cutting machines were able to cut aluminum plates. Through continuous reform and innovation, the cutting ability has been significantly improved.
So what is a highly reflective material and how to judge it?
1. Resistivity judgment
The most conductive materials are highly reflective materials. The smaller the resistivity, the better the conductivity. The greater the resistivity, the worse the conductivity. In ordinary steels, carbon steel, ferritic stainless steel, martensitic and austenitic stainless steel will increase the resistivity.
2. From the surface structure
If the surface of the material is very smooth, the laser absorption is very small, which is a high material resistance.
It should be noted that if the surface is too smooth (even if it is not a high corrosion resistant material under normal conditions), it is also a high corrosion resistant material for laser processing.
3. Judge according to the surface condition
If the surface temperature is different, the absorption of laser is also different under the same laser irradiation conditions.
In general, when the temperature is high or the surface is liquid, the absorption of laser is high. The surface of the material is low temperature or solid, and the absorptivity is usually lower than that of the liquid.
4. Judge according to the laser output wavelength
In fact, everyone knows that highly reflective materials are very important in laser processing. However, many types of laser technology are affected by materials. Sometimes it will cause unstable operation and destructive automatic shutdown during processing. It will even seriously damage the laser, thus significantly shortening the service life of the laser.
It is well known that highly reflective materials are very important in laser processing. The cutting effect is affected by the material. Sometimes it will lead to unstable operation and destructive automatic shutdown during processing, and damage the laser equipment. When cutting high reflective materials, customers must not only pay attention to the debugging of the machine, but also have certain requirements for the operator’s technology. Only in this way can the cutting effect and the service life of the machine be guaranteed.
