How to Select Protective Mirror for Laser Cutting Machine

The cutting head is one of the most important parts of the laser cutting machine, and the focusing mirror, the core part of the cutting head, is very expensive. When cutting is in progress, a large amount of dust and splashes will be generated, which will cause serious damage to the focusing lens if they enter the cutting head. In order to protect the focusing lens and extend its service life, a special protective lens is designed, whose function is to prevent these dust and splashes.

The protective mirror, as a consumable and wearing part, is normally worn during the cutting process. If the protective mirror is found to have oil stains or small black spots, it must be cleaned or replaced, otherwise the focus mirror may be damaged.

The cleanliness of the protective mirror directly affects the processing performance and quality of the laser cutting machine. If the lens is dirty, it will not only affect the cutting effect and efficiency, but also further cause the burning of the internal parts of the cutting head and the laser output head. Therefore, the protective mirror with good material, high transmittance and small thermal expansion coefficient should be selected.

The cost of low-quality protective mirror is low, the transmittance is poor, heat resistant, easy to crack, and can’t bear the penetration of laser, which causes the lens to burst, and the powder particles that break the lens will pollute the cutting head, thus causing damage to core high-value components, including focus lens, sensor, etc. The maintenance cost is as high as 20-50% of the price of new cutting head, and delays the production and processing of equipment, resulting in economic losses.

Behind the strong demand, there are uneven product prices and quality. There are tens to hundreds of protective lenses on the market, and behind the price difference is the quality disparity. It is very important for enterprises in the metal processing industry to choose lenses with good quality and low laser loss.

In addition to matching the overall dimensions, it is also necessary to select the material of the protective lens and the technical parameters of the laser antireflection film that are suitable for you according to the actual cutting environment and the laser cutting power.

Use of protective glasses

1. The installation must be carried out with gloves, without leaving any fingerprints;

2. Don’t let anything scratch the lens surface;

3. When taking out the mirror, hold the edge of the lens with both hands, and do not touch the film;

4. Clean the lens with clean tissue paper, test paper and optical grade solvent;
